The Codex Alimentarius Commission aims to facilitate international trade in U.S. agricultural products by adopting a global standard for high oleic soybean oil (HOSO). Developed with input from USSEC and other stakeholders, the standard clarifies the global definition of HOSO and increases production and export opportunities, particularly for U.S. farmers. High oleic soybean oil has environmentally friendly properties, offering long frying life with high oxidative stability and low saturated fatty acid content. Supported by sustainable production practices, this oil looks set to gain a significant place in the international market.
